SVT vs VT and complete heart block

Hello...

I have had issues that have been unexplained for YEARS.... I used to have episodes where I would get deathly sick and within 2 hours or so I would be so dehydrated my blood pressure would bottom out and I was passing out... I have generally low blood pressure anyway... runs in the mid 90's

Anyway the episodes would shut my kidneys down and I would be in the hospital in ICU... I would receive fluids and I would get better??? No explainations on why? My blood numbers were all over the board.. ANYWAY... I have 3 children and in 2001 I had my son in May and started Passing out.... this went on for about 4 months.. finally through loads of tests a event recorder found I was having Complete heart block episodes. ... I had a pacemaker implanted.... 2001 sept 16th to be exact...

Not sure why my heart did that.... NO one has been able to explain the weird strange things i seem to experience... I do not have a family with heart history....

Now I am experiencing SVT/PSVT???? 184 times in a 4 week period... went in for an ablasion.. the doctor was unable to induce the SVT/PSVT.... OR VT for that matter.... so I they put me on a Calcium blocker... (cardizem) within 9 days i had gained 12lbs and was swelling terribly and having shortness of breath, chest pain...etc.. you get the picture... They took me off that medicine....

Now they said it was ok to work out and we would try another medicine soon....

So I worked out and began to run after walking on the treadmil for 4 min... I was 1 min into my jog and my heart went crazy.... I could not proceed with  my workout.... I felt HORRIBLE... my heart raced for 19 min at 200 bmp (recorded by pacemaker) and I had 5 other episodes (dont have the details on them yet) I had bad shortness of breath, chest pain, light headedness, felt like there was a depression in my chest through my throat, my heart felt like it quivered and i could not sleep all night... couldnt breath and I really felt like i was gonna die... (the only other time i felt like i was going to die was when i was passing out before)

So I have no idea ???? My doctors say I am a mystery... I am afraid they are missing something... ???

Where do I go from here? I dont want to be put on another medication that my hide my underlying heart problem... I have a long line of "Mystery" problems.... Im 36 years old and need help.... a point of direction... Im feeling very frustrated...

Any words of wisdom? could i have a rare something they arent checking.... as usually is the case for me? Or could the svt / psvt be VT?

why would a PC study be unsuccessful? why would they not be able to induce this in me after 2 hours?

Thanks!

Pacemaker can pick up the unwanted rhythm and paced.  Sometime it picks up a few beats late.  Unless it permanently in pacing VVIR mode. (First, no good to the heart.  Second, battery uses up quickly)  Normally, like mine one, it senses and paces when necessary.  I still get pauses longer than 2.5 second with the funtional 2 leads pacemaker.  EP said, it is normal that he's seen so many like that and it is not a problem.

In the midnight, I was waking up so many times that I felt my heart stopped.  Sometime, I wait for the beats turn up.  Sometime, just too tired.  I went back to sleep straight away because I use to it already.

When I wake up, the pacemaker programmed to speed up my heart.  For what I feel, it looks like the express train.  Holter recorded as Ventricular Runs.  That's what my EP (He's seen me more than 25 years) said, "other cardiologists read your EKG wrong.  They don't know how to read your EKG".

They put my pacemaker in to resolve my heart block issues... which is where my heart loses the signal and fails to beat on its own... and yes it is working for that.... I dont pass out anymore due to my heart not beating....

I know its wierd to be so young and have these issues.... unexpainable issues at that....

I have not had a second opinion... but sounds like that could be a good idea....

Thanks ! Good luck to you as well...

hi there,
so, it sounds like the pacemaker they implanted is not working for you?  Why did they decide on pacemaker and not a defibrillator?  I am just curious, I am learning about both...

I'm not sure VT could go on for 19 minutes, though I'm not sure on that...?  To be honest, I'm not sure on most stuff. I can relate, however to your situation - I am 34 and am also a mystery to doctors.  For the past 10 years I've gotten a lot of shoulder shrugs from them.  I had a stroke, no cause was found for that.  Now I have what appears to be VT but they can't find a reason for it.  They have found a lot of problems with my heart so far, but none that should cause VT.  I am totally confused, scared, weirded out, you name it, I'm it.

Have you gotten a second opinion anywhere?  I am on opinion #2 and it is markedly different than opinion #1.  Maybe if you tried another clinic/hospital they could find answers and solutions for you.  I know how frustrating this is.  Hang in there, and find someone who will take the time to figure this out for you.
