Scared of these new PVCs I'm Getting

Hi, everyone. I've had PVCs for most of my adult life. Normally, they just came randomly, but I never had any major problems with them. About 14 years ago, I chose to go on a low-dose beta blocker so that I didn't feel so much anxiety.  I do have a history of anxiety and panic attacks, so keeping the PVCs and sinus tachycardia at bay is important to me.

Recently, I had noticed a little bit more PVCs, so I had a 24-hour monitor done. I was shocked to find that I only had 15 during that 24 hours as my last holter monitor years ago showed about 700. I also had an echocardiogram because I have mild mitral valve prolapse, and that was all that it showed as well. Everything else was normal heart function.

About a week after my echocardiogram, which was this past Friday night, I came home and noticed that I was having a few more PVCs than normal. I walked into my bedroom and sat down, and of course got anxious about it, and my heart rate shot up. During the high heart rate, which was probably in the 120s at the time, I started having tons of PVCs one right after the other. This had never happened to me before.

I ended up asking my husband to call the ambulance and had to be taken to the emergency room. All the way there, my heart rate was in the 120s and I was having PVCs all over the place. My blood pressure was 170/110, and I normally have a low blood pressure of about 100 over 60 so this was quite frightening for me.

I ended up spending seven hours in the emergency room hooked up to a monitor. For the first time, I went into bigeminy. This would last for several minutes at a time, and I was having lots of PVCs even when I wasn't bigeminy. They gave me Ativan which did nothing and also two doses of 5 mg Lopressor which did little.  Finally, they gave me a 25 mg pill of Lopressor and decided to send me home even though I was still having lots of PVCs. I wanted to stay, but the doctor told me that it wasn't a dangerous rhythm and it was basically just an annoyance I would have to live with.

My biggest concern is why did this happen out of the blue? Of course, I went back to my cardiologist on Monday and he doesn't seem overly concerned either. He said that if this happened over the course of many years, it could cause problems with my heart.  For now, he wants me on 75 mg of Lopressor a day for a week and then to back it down to 50 mg.

The day after I got out of the hospital, I had lots of PVCs. The next day wasn't so bad at all, but it comes and goes now. I feel anxious and I'm not sure how long the Lopressor takes to really get into  your system and work. Before that, I have been on Zebeta for 14 years and that had usually kept my palpitations and anxiety at bay.

Could I still be having the PVCs because the Lopressor hasn't built up in my system enough yet? It's only been four days.

Any idea why I would suddenly have such a terrible bout of PVCs out of the blue when I've not had nearly that large number in all these years?

Help!

There are all sorts of triggers for svt.  I would watch your stress and what you eat.  Those are the biggest triggers.  Other than that I have found sometimes when I start coughing I can get a pattern to stop.  Also if I do things to try and elevate my heart rate it can break a pattern of them coming on strong.  I hope you are able to get a handle on your triggers.  Take care.

Omg you just wore my story if you read down you will see I just went threw the whole thing you just went threw.

Mine has been a week ago, it was Friday night, we had just ate Mexican food and went home about 35 mins later I stared having heart flutters, I have not had any paps in 3 months, and when I do they are one here or there .

I waited 5 hours before I went to the hospital, when I got there my bp was 203/103  and mine to is normally low like 137/60 or 109/60 so it was really high, I thinking from stress of having the heart flutters.   So they hook me up and keep telling me they are PAC nothing to worry about, I was there 10 hours they to gave me the lopressor it was 25 mg but it really didn't help, it did help to bring my bp down.

So I go home sat and mine had stopped, was gone all day sat, Sunday I get up and they start again, I got mad and started working in my garage carrying heaven chairs up and down the basement stairs, funny my PAC stopped, only had a few after that, I have had one since Sunday.but my anxiety been going.

So see we went threw same thing and still here to be scared about it, lol it's very scarey I am 54 and I've had them since I was 20 so I know what they are just never have I had them so many in a row, it was like 3 in a row than a normal heart beat , it got down to every 8-10 heart beat than just stopped.

So I to know how you feel, not a good feeling and the stress of worrying when they will come back and that many has really set my anxiety off, I have a awesome hubby who's there for me so that helps.

I to live in ga, we might be close lol Gwinnett medical hospital is where I went. Stay strong, it won't kill us. Oh yeah I to have no ideal why they came like that, I was not stressed at all so not sure, doctors don't know either, here to talk if you want to . Heart
