As Jerry suggested above, we need more info to offer our untrained help. Lifting can cause abrupt and dramatic changes in internal pressures. This in turn can cause arrhythmias in certain people. When this happens to you, stop and check your pulse. How fast is it? Does it ramp up and down, or does the change in rate seem almost instantaniously? Use your fingers and press lightly on the opposite wrist until you dect your pulse. Count the beats. Withg more info, we can perhaps make some suggestions.
You have given us only qualitative words: "really fast" and "calms down"... I have no idea what those words mean to you.
If you say, for example, after some heavy weight lifting your heart rate is 150, but it calms down to 70 in a few minutes, I'd say: sounds fine to me.
