Hello...
Is he under the care of a pediatric cardiologist? As far as the prolonged QT, is he on aby type of Betablocker for this? It can be very tricky when there are multiple medications being taken.
Risperidone can cause an acquired form of long QTS, as it does appear on the list of drugs that can prolong the QT interval. Has his Dr suggested that this drug may be the cause of his electrical abnormalities?
my son has been on many meds for yrs and had a eck done and showed rbbb and prolonged QT secondary to QRS adnormality, he is bipolar and 10 yrs of age, on many meds since age 1yr. now on depokot and resperdal,, does any one have any info on this thanks
Lot of thanks for your advices. We have to do an echography. We'll see then.

Hello...
A RBBB is usually an inceidental finding in otherwise healthy children. If he was examined beyond this EKG finding, and they ruled out any underlying conditions that can cause this ie. Pulmonary Emboli(blood clot in lung) Atrial Septal Defect, Ventricular Septal Defect, Cardiomyopathy etc.
If all other tests ruled out disease, then the RBBB has no apparent medical significance, and can be written off as a “normal variant,” and safely ignored.
I think it is best to ask his physician if this high level swimming is appropriate and low risk. Good luck!
