What do i do if i have a low heart rate and too many pvc's,so can't take any med's?

July26th,hansonkay,I got back from Mayo in rochester yesterday, and the holter monitor showed 1200 pvc's in a 22 hour period. they removed it a little early. Today i saw my doc,at home,he said stress test, blood workup, chest xray were all normal. why do i not have not a one or hardly any while doing the treadmill test.? the doc. also said it would be to dangerous for me to go on like a beta blocker to try to control some of the pvc's. i was told it was my lower left chamber, and ti's an electrical problem with my heart., now what, can anything be done? do i see a different kind of doctor. worried. hansokay

Hi. It is dangerous to take a beta blocker with a slow heart rate because they will slow it down even more.  Beta blockers don't stop PVCs anyway and 1200 in a day is not a lot.  Some of us have had bigeminy (every other beat is a PVC) for weeks or longer without medication.  I do take a beta blocker but it is for a fast resting heart rate.  If your doctor says you have a structurally normal heart, the PVCs should never hurt you.  It is just something to get used to.

You are right, my doctor said not to take the beta blocker that the cardiologist at mayo Clinic wrote a prescription for as he does not know my medical history. i was told my heart rate is 54 which is to low to take any form of beta blocker. I do'nt have a fast pulse, my resting pulse is usually in the low 50's. thank's for the info. hansonkay
