When is ablation necessary?

Hi everyone,
I'm just curious about when it's necessary to have an ablation? I've been experiencing PVCs for about a year and a half and they seem to be getting worse. Instead of just "skipping" beats, my heartbeat is now quite erratic - often changing from fast to slow and slower than normal at rest. I've read several posts about people getting ablations - I'm just wondering what the indicators would be?
thanks...

well first of all it depends on what kind of arrhythmia u have this can be generally seen on a ekg or on a holter monitor which u use for a couple of days to show the patterns at which your heart may be beating normally or not
then a trip to an ep who specialises in heart rhythm from the electrial side where they might decide wheather to use meds to control or to perform an ep study to map the arrhythmia and if possible ablate it.
i had my ablation for svt cause the meds did not suit me i know others who are great on just the meds it really depends on much this is impacting on your life mine was impacting on my life quite a lot so i asked for ablation
ablations can be successful in the majority of cases
maybe a visit to a cardiologist if u have not been already would be a good place to start
pvcs in a normal structural heart are considered benign but if u feel more erratic beats are occuring because of the pvcs i would recommend a trip to your doc who may refer to an ep to get a proper evaluation for u and maybe consider u for an ablation

does that help soon
take care
