back in october 2010 i had a bout of lone afib that returned to normal on its own , on having more tests they fould that the right side of my heart has some minor dilatation on the right side , i have had ecg's echo's mri's holter monitors for 7 days , a bubble study , and they have all came back negative so no valve problems , no avrd etc
afib is the only symptom ive had ???
is it possible that i just have a right side that falls just outside normal dimensions
also i used to hit the gym alot and lift heavy weights and rearly push myself to the point where my heart would boom out of my chest could this have maybe caused it ???????
the only other thing i can find on the net is pulmonary hypertension , but there is no family history of that and i now feel fine ....... if im right PH is a progresive disease and i feel much better from back in oct , as ive lost weight and live a much healthier lifestyle now
another question was could free diving cause this as i was on holiday and did a lot of free diving just before i ended up in hospital with the afib could the underwater preasure and holding my breath have caused it ???
any replys from anyone with simalar situations going on would be great or just advise from somone who knows the answers
thanks mark
sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong palce its my first post
Atrial Fibrillation is usually related to an enlarged left atrium, not the right ventricle. You didn't specify how much of the right side is enlarged, or I missed it. But, it is the ventricle that gets the "work out" when we push ourselves physically. Sounds like you've done that. I also note there is some correlation between AFib and extreme athletic activity, such as marathon or triathlon types of competition. I suppose weight lifting and "free diving" may fall into that category. I don't know anything about "free diving" other than if I swim below the surface is never more that a couple of feet and never more than about 15 seconds....I don't like it under water. I swim just enough to swim well enough to save myself if shore isn't more that a few hundred feet away.
