excercise?

Quick question.  I have a stress test coming up on monday the 10th.  I noticed the other day when I was dancing around the living rm with my kids acting like a nut I was getting these stupid palps.  I know excercise is important and feel that I am active with just everyday routine.  I am so "stressed"  about this test coming up.  Any suggestions on if I should start walking or something.  I am not one to sit too long, in fact my husband always says  "why dont you sit down awhile and relax"  busy busy....any input would be great.  I know I should start out slow, but I do feel like I get a lot of excercise just with my routine.  Is this stress test hard?

The test is a piece of cake...don't worry.  DON"T BE SCARED if you feel skip beats DURING IT...I had tons of PVCs during my last stress echo and I thought I failed miserably.

Well, the doc said "keep going...if your going to have a heart attack this is the place to do it" just to get me to chuckle.  Well, I kept going and first the PVCs got WORSE, than all of a sudden they stopped.

I STILL thought I failed horribly but afterwards, the doctor assured me that they saw ALL the PVCs and they were NOT dangerous and I PASSED with flying colors.  He told me to "get out there and run."

So, RELAX and if you get palps  during it, you probably STILL will be fine; just stay with it!!!

Let us know what happens and good luck!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Please wait until after the stress test until you initiate any type of excercise program. (Unless already OKed by your Doctor). When my wife was working at a Family Doctor, they had a patient with mild chest pain. They had scheduled him for a Stress Test, and I guess he wanted to prove to himself, prior to the test, that he was OK. He had a treadmill at his home, which he used, probably pressing himself, the night before. He passed away while at home. Had he waited for the Stress Test, they would have aborted it at the first sign of any problems, and would have done additional tests, such as doing a Heart Catheterization. Obviously this man had problems.

I am not saying that you are in the same situation, I have little doubt that you will breeze through it. It's always such a relief when it's over, and you feel good for having accomplished it, feel young again at the level of exertion that you were capable of during the test. (In my case at least, it's been 30 years since I could lay any claim to being young). If your Doctor has not limited your excercise, I would continue to do the same level of activity that is part of your daily life. Only if your Doctor approves though should you increase your level of activity until after the stress test.

Wishes for great health.

Stress test is easy, you'll be fine. I actually walked too fast on mine at first lol...guess I wanted it to be over.

The stress test should be a breeze for you. It sounds like you are in good shape and are use to getting plenty of exercise. I know we tend to get nervous about things which are new to us but there is nothing to be worried about. Stay active and keep exercising. Be positive and don't start worrying about things needlessly.
