Palpatations and possible CVPs ?? Help ???

Hi I am 29 and have been expierencing palpatations for over two years.  I have seen a cardiologist and they did all the tests and found nothing.  They never mentioned CVPs to me and as I have continued to have these symptoms I have done my own reasearch and  I have discovered that CVPs sound exactly like what  I have been feeling.   Though I am concerned because sometimes I feel the symptoms when I am engauging in certain activities like sex.  If they are CVPs could they be brought on by activities ???   Alas I think I am going to go to yet another cardiologist.

Hey thanks for the reply yes I meant PVCs  !! I actually have had a 24 hour monitor and a holter that I wore for some 20 or so days during which time I did expierence the sensation of the skipped beat palpatation. Though when I went in for the follow up appointment the Doc said there was nothing on the print out at the time I had reported the sensation. Which made me question the valididity of the test.  He did say that I had some long pauses on certain occasions while sleeping and that he recommended a sleep study which I never got because I am pretty much an insomniac.  Well maybe not insomniac but I do go to sleep almost every night at 4 am. The people at the sleep study  center told me that lights out is at 10.  The only way I could ever pass out that early is if I was drugged with a sleeping pill and I figures that would ruin the sleep study test results.   Anyway I'm just a little frustrated and concerned.  There will be some months where I won't feel anything and then others where I get the sensation for dAys and weeks on end.  Sometimes once or twice in a day sometimes more or less.  I did all the tests.  Stress test on tredmill, ultrasound, etc etc and they couldn't find anything.  Then after initial tests I was then put on the monitors.  Anyway I used to be active and now I'm afraid to even go jogging, I haven't for a long time.  I lift light weights in the gym but that's it.  I really want to get back into exercising but not before I figure out what's wrong. At this point I figure if I do change doc ( this guy I have now really isn't that friendly or comforting anyway ) that they will just run the exact same tests anyway.  Alas I will probably end up giving it another go round with a new guy.  Also I think I have major anxiety issues even though I have never been diagnosed or treated for it I am almost positive I have it.  I twitch and am so much more stressed and jumpy than I used to be, maybe that's part of it ????   Sorry for the long windedness !!! Any more advice greatly appreciated !!!!!

Hello...

Are you talking about PVC's (premature ventricular contractions)? What kinds of tests have you had?

Many times these are not discovered using EKG's. They are best seen with holter monitoring or event monitors. There are many things that can trigger these to occur. The fact that you, based on the tests you have had done, have no other heart related issues is good. These ectopic beats although scary and annoying are most likely benign (they won't kill you)

Before you leave this Dr in the dust, ask him if you could have some type of outpatient monitoring, like the ones I mentioned. Sometimes it is the persistance on the part of the patient to get the neccessary testing accomplished. I firmly beleive in that old saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil"
