hematoma after cathater ablation

I had cathater ablation surgery one week ago.  I have developed a large hematoma on my left leg.  The surgeon told me that it was not dangerous just very painful. I had an ultrasound to make sure that it was not in the veins.  The hematoma is suppose to move down my leg due to gravity.  Is there anything to help with this pain and hurry the process of recovery?

Use the R.I.C.E. procedure.  I fell in the tub after injuring both of my knees.  I fell HARD on the outside of the tub landing on my left buttock and hip.  I had a hematoma which COVERED my whole left buttock and top of thigh (and it ain't small...LOL).  I also had to be checked for DVT.  It is VERY painful!  I hate to tell you this but it took 5 months for mine to completely go away.  The blood had to travel down my leg to my foot, and took that long for it to be absorbed back into my body.  BUT this was the largest hematoma they had ever seen.  It was by no means a bruise!  If you use ice the 1st 48 hours to stop any further bleeding and then mild heat to help your body reabsorb the rest with ice following if it swells or hurts more it will go away faster.  Sorry you have to deal with this!  It is a nightmare.

I was also told to take Tylenol for any discomfort.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband was throwing a football around and actually developed a hematoma on his arm.  We put ice packs on it, and over time, the swelling came down.  Did the doctor mention ice to relieve pain and swelling?

Hi,
I had a cardiac ablation one month ago.  I developed a huge bruise in my right groin area.  Apparently, the DR. really had to press down hard when he was inserting the catheter .  My bruising lasted a good 3 and half weeks. I couldn't believe how purple I looked! I was told when I left the hospital to take Tylenol for any discomfort.  It was very tender to the touch.  It will go away but it does take some time. I don't think there's anything you can do to hurry the process of healing.  Once I saw it was starting to heal after a couple of weeks, it seemed to heal pretty quickly

Where exactly is your hematoma on your leg-is it near your groin? By the way, was your ablation successful?  I was told mine was and haven't had SVT for one month now so I'm so happy.
