I too, have a history of SVT. The doctors didn't want me to have children, but I did anyway. I had two daughters; one has SVT and the other needed a heart transplant due to having hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (diseased heart muscle) as well as several different electrical problems with her heart. I took several different drugs during my pregnancies with toxic results. Neither of my pregnancies were 'good' and I had a lot of SVT problems. How you do with a pregnancy is anyone's guess. You really need to discuss this with a OB-GYN (hopefully a High Risk OB-GYN doctor) doctor as well as with your cardiologist.
I've had arrhythmias all my life. No one ever told me what was going on until I was in my early 20's. I was told I had PSVT. I did go on to have 3 children, natural childbirth each time. My OB/GYN was aware of my tachy heart but it wasn't a problem during the births. The hormonal changes may have increased my tachy times but not to the degree that I needed to take medication to manage them.
So much depends on the type of SVT you have, how frequently it occurs and at what rates. Certainly something to monitor and then discuss with your doctor.
Hi there I am not sure if you can have children or not...I think you might want to discuss this with your doctor :).....Have you thought about surgery? or is it not that severe enough? also I would think you would be able to have children but maybe you would have to have a C-section so your not putting a lot of stress on your body! :) keep us updated!! :)
