incapacitating heart rhythm

Can anybody tell me what the cause and best solution, if possible?- I have a history of pericardial infection and fluid around my heart and in both lungs, the fluids were evacuated via surgery several years ago, but since then, whenever I get active, even minor exertion like doing dishes, my heart begins to skip beats, 'gallop', or just throws in an extra beat. My heart rate is slow( 45-50bpm resting). This happens everyday, and when it does, it drains me of all energy, i am tired and unable to function any further.I am a female, 55, married and have no stressful issues in my life other than this inconsistent heart rate. This has crippled my life, and the frustration is unbearable. I've tried all meds from my primary M.D., and none have helped control this particular symptom.

Hello, this stuff is difficult for sure.  I'm sorry you going through this.  IN you post you described a number of things that may have different causes.  I think it sounds like you might have some bradycardia (slow heart rate) tachycardia, and ectopic beats.

The only way I can think of on how to figure this out would be to catch the events on an EKG, like a portable holter monitor you can wear with you as you go about your day.  It will record the ekg and store it.  Then you doctor can see what's going on to come up with the best treat strategy.

Has your primary care recommended a cardiologist?  I think you should see one

I do not know anything about your other health issues, but irregular heart rhythm are frequently treated with beta blocker medication. I assume that has been tried.

It is very difficult, I know , but you are the best hope you have, you have to keep trying and seeking a path forward.
