Is Tachycardia genetic/familial?

I took my youngest daughter (8) to the ER the other night after she fell on our kitchen tile running & playing with socks on (sigh, yes mom I know I'm not supposed to run inside lol) The ER dr said she had a high HR (over 120) and attributed it to being anxious about getting stitches in her forehead - thankfully she didn't.

At her followup with a new pediatrician, her HR was still high at 97 and that's after laying on the table waiting for about an hour.  The dr mentioned this to me asked if her HR was always so high or was she just nervous.  I've noticed her heart beats funky sometimes and not sure if I should push getting an EKG or echo and how reliable ekg's are in children?

The dr did a bloodtest and found she's pretty anemic; she said she looked a bit pale and just wanted to be sure.  I was shocked she's anaemic because she eats so well; fruits, vegetables, meats, starches - really there's not much she won't eat, she just doesn't gain weight.  I did out her daily menu of what she normally eats and she's eating over 20g of iron a day just in foods but the dr wants me to switch vitamins to ones with iron.  I know anemia can cause arrhythmia's, but I'm leery to give too much iron too.

I first started with a racing heart and fainting at age 9...I'm wondering if what I have with my Polymorphic VT is genetic and maybe it is in my children - my oldest daughter (24) will be getting a full cardiac workup in Jan (new insurance) and did about the same thing as me and my youngest daughter.

I just find it curious it took me over 42 years to be dx with something and my daughters are prone to arrhythmia's and tachycardia/pvc's also...my son's haven't had any problems

on a side note: both dr's felt 5 lymph nodes or nodules; on her right throat/under her chin side which they thought was strange and did blood tests (I'm trying not to freak out with that since my dad died not long ago of lymphoma)

Sorry to read of the health concern about your children.  We all are especially concerned about our children, about all children who suffer from health problems.

I have no idea about hereditary connections, but doctors are always interested in the health history of a patient's blood-line relatives.

My wife is taking Chemo for cancer that was removed by surgery, and while the doctor said there is no hard connection between cancer and family, they still wanted to know.  Yes, I know I've change the problem area, but I am just "thinking out loud" about what I know to see if I can come up with any sample data.  A colleague of mine has a wife with breast cancer in remission, and they lost a daughter when she was a young woman from the same disease.  I'd guess in that case there was a connection, but I don't know.

The optimistic thing to remember about young people today, they should benefit from medical procedures and medications that were not available for us (me) older folks.

Wishing the best and a Merry Christmas
