Something happened last night and it was scary

I know some people on beta blockers complain about having weird dreams. I have been having more dreams than usual but nothing too weird until last night. And honestly I am not too sure what exactly what happened. In the dream I was walking around with my husband. Suddenly, I began having a pounding pulse (for lack of better words) in my carotoid artery. It went on for a few minutes (at least in dream time) and I remember asking my husband to feel it because it felt so weird. Then I woke up and sat up in bed. My heart was racing a bit like when you wake up from a scary dream but nothing too crazy. I spent the next few minutes trying to figure out what really happened. Was my "pulse" really pounding and it finally woke me up? Or was it just a dream? In the "dream" it was really pounding hard so it has been shaken up a bit. Time to call the cardiologist or what? Any suggestions from my fellow sufferers would be appreciated.

I have weird dreams, none about my heart best I can remember.  I have a few a night, and wake up between.  I have never been aware of any heart racing when I wake up.

I don't know if BB is part of my problem or not.  I have been on BB since late 2007 and on CCB too since about a year ago.  When I started the CCB, my BB was cut in half, the dreams remain the same problem.  Problem: some upset when I wake up, but that goes away quickly and I forget details in minutes or hours.

So, while I have discussed my dream "problem: with my Cardiologist, my EP and my Primary care, none seem very interested.  I guess it will not kill me.

Sounds like a typical REM dream - I have them at times.  Awake from a vivid dream with an elevated heart rate that subsides to normal in a few minutes.  While I can understand where you are coming from, I think you are over analyzing the situation.  Unless you are beginning to have new symptoms I don't think calling the cardiologist is necessary.
