Your post made me smile - it's so funny - I had this picture of me up the mountains and coming suddenly across a herd of wild goats and them all passing out and falling off the cliffs.
Totally with you on visualisation and am goung to start some posts on that soon and you're right we are all fighters and help each other in fighting techniques.

How's the therapy going - I know quite a bit about that.

You know what's funny, when I read your post I got this picture of those goats that when highly excited or stressed--go completely rigid, fall over and pass out.

What's up with that!!! Some survival instinct, I wonder how that saved them from the sabre toothed tiger hee hee.

In a bad pvc spell, sometimes I feel like one of those goats :-)), too terrified to continue, but continue I do, as we all do. Is it without fear, no, but we all seem to go on despite the fear, or maybe in spite of it. I like your recommendation about breathing, I think we forget to breathe properly, and deep breathing is very relaxing. Good visualization is also helpful, imagining yourself in a good place.

I think every one of us who visits and writes on this forum is a fighting person, bravely crossing the bridge, reaching out and attempting to do something about their condition, more like the sabre tooth tiger than we think, I'll bet.

I would say its most likely that vicious circle known as 'Anxiety' again....

In my job I deal with emergency calls to patients with all manner of symptoms on a daily basis. This is one of the more common complaints that I see.

The heart 'skipping' a beat or that feeling that it has stopped momentarily is totally normal. It can happen up to 50 times a day in a normal healthy person. In most people though it goes un-noticed.

Unfortunately, those suffering from anxiety live constantly in a state of heightened awareness which means they can be noticed more often. Of course when you have noticed one, the likelyhood is you'll subconsciously be looking out for others and therefore be more likely to notice more....... It's a vicious circle. I'm quite sure that it's completely normal though.

Like all posts that I make though, I do not have the luxury of being able to exam the patient here in front of me. Neither do I have the benefit of medical equipment, ECG's etc. Therefore if you are concerned, even though I'm sure things will come back normal, discuss it with your Doctor again.

I hope I have put your mind at ease.

Hi there
So sorry to read of your nasty experience and believe me we've all been there as Upbeat so vividly describes.
Please don't say 'it's just anxiety' as anxiety sets in motion automatic biochemical changes which in 'the wilds' would be essential for your survival but in our modern lifestyle are not so good - there are not many sabre toothed tigers waiting to pounce on us in por living rooms!
But your survival instincts are primitive and do ont know this so they produce very very real symptoms which can and do include palpitations, dizziness and many many more.
So the good news is that it is easy to swith this off by reversing the process. Simply breathe slowly and regularly so that you can feel your abdomen slowly rising and falling. This sends the right nessages and the'fight or flight' respnse id turned off and your body will return to normal. ther are many nore things you can do to combat anxiety but this silmpe technique never fails.

Any time you feel your symptoms have changed significantly it's good to discuss this with your doctor to see if he/she feels you need to have something investigated further.

However, that being said, I get that sensation frequently with my palpitations, pvcs.

I feel a little lightheaded, and I get this heavy drop sensation in my chest, like I have a hole where my heart was, like my heart has stopped and then there is a big pause, then boom it beats hard for a moment.

Sometimes it's very hard to feel my pulse, I have to check both wrists, or sometime I even reach to check my neck. Sometimes it is so hard I can actually see it pulsing through my skin. BUT I really, really try not to check it because I can get caught up in that vicious cycle.

I've had, it seems, millions of the same sensation you describe, and millions, it seems, of other very weird sensations with my pvcs. But always it is the same words from the doctors, pvcs=still benign. I suppose that should be comforting for me to hear so often, but maybe I have a thick skull. :-)) If the sensation you describe persists or becomes more frequent, I would follow up with your medical doctor. If it was just the one time, lets hope it stays that way!
