Can someone please help me! I have this terrible heart pounding after I eat. I just got out of the hospital after an episode of near fainting. this is the 6 time in less than a month I have almost fainted. The doc says he thinks its my vegas nerve giving me trouble. has anyone ever heard of this? I even feel faint after I cough!! please help!!

Hi Terri,
I have had a lot of probs with heart palps, etc. I am convinced it is vagus related.  It is much worse when I eat something that gives me indigestion, bloats me or  upsets my stomach.  I even have spells where I burp and then my heart goes into palps. These last for several days.

I am interested in anything you find that helps. You might try a PPI like prescription previcid. Contrary to what our docs say I have found one study in Australia that significntly improved Afib with PPIs

I guess everyone is different.  I've had fewer irregular beats since going off a PPI.

The PPI Prevacid definitely helps my irregular beats.  My primary care doc says it "quiets down" the vagus nerve.  Good luck.
