rapid hard beats?

just recently i was laying in bed and all of a sudden i got a feeling in my chest that scared me.  Im a 26 y/o male with a history of pvc's on verapamil 240mg every night.  My heart just started pounding out of my chest very fast, like 6-7 times in a row in 3 seconds, got scared and jerked up and it stoped.  This has happened before, the day before my holter monitor, and it did not show up on the holter.  Was this a "run" of pvc's?  or was this a quick burst of hard heart beats?  The last time it happened, i was taking my pulse and i could feel it in my wrist, but i was too shocked to focus on taking it this time.  Anyone?

well my heart rate when i checked it was about 90ish.  What happened was my heart just pounded out of my chest really fast for 2-3 seconds.  Like feeling a boom boom boom boom boom in my chest then it stopped.  Not too worried about it since it has not happened again.  Also it has done it when ever i lay on my back.

Can you relate you sudden attack with any emotional change, e.g., being startled by something, or by thinking about something emotional?  Emotions can play a big role in your HR.

You say rapid, how rapid, what is the HR?  If under 100, I'd not be too worried, if over 150 I would be worried, and seek medical attention.  Depending on the existence of other symptoms I'd go for an early appointment with a primary care, such as a "walk-in" medical service or the emergency room.
