Last year I had a stroke at the age of 26, after being diagnosed with Bilateral Pulmonary Emboli with deep vein thrombosis. This cause right side hemiparalisis. Was told it could have been through the birth control i was on. But as i am doing research. I am seeing other things. IS it possible that my tachycardia that i was diagnosed with in 2002 be the problem? Before stroke my bp was 120/80 pulse anywhere from 90 to 140 or higher. after stroke.. and being on warfarin...7 1/2 mg mwf 10 mg t th SAT SUN. just to keep in the 2 to 3 range. my blood pressure is barely staying at 90 over 60. I am having more tachycardia events.. but cannot be put back on lnderal (propranolol) due to the low BP. What am i to do? Do I have Artrial Fibrullation? I match Most  of the symptoms. and the drs that i have seen dont listen to me. I am stuck with VA drs and Tricare drs cuz husband is military. So could the stroke be from AF instead of the birth control patch?

Thebest way to know if you are in a-fib (or in and out and do not realize it) is an EKG.

What makes you think you have afib?  

Unless you are symptomatic with a BP of 90/60, that is perfectly fine.  If you are symptomatic, talk with your physician about trying a different medication.

I'm also inclined to think the stroke is a result of the BP patch.  Of course, you may never know for sure.  Not worth risking it by trying again.

If u were on the birth control patch, I would feel positive that is what caused your stroke.  Have you ever read the studies on that?  The incidence of stroke with that medication is outrageous. I can't believe it is still on the market.  I wish you the best.
