During both of my pregnancies i had svt episodes. It first happen when i was pregnant with my first child. They told me it was normal after several visits to the ER.  However, after delivary of my first child, the palpitations would not stop, so i they gave me a pill (icant rememebr the name but it starts with a "D") that made my heart rate drop to a regular beat, before the pill it was going 250 beats per minute. After that i was ok, they put me on propalonal, then eventually it regulated my heart rate to normal.  Then i got off of it. Every now and then i use to have a flutter then it will go away after a few minute. Think it was stress.

4 years later i got pregnant again.  This time i had a few episodes while i was pregnant as well, but i wasnt soo suprise cause now i new what it was.  My cardiologist did ekg and an ultrasound on me.  I also had to wear a halter monitor for 48 hours.  The results from th halter monitor came back as super vintricular tachycardia i think. The ekg was always normal and the ultra sound came back as a minor murmer. really really small. They gave me propalanal to take while i was pregnant. like 10 mg a really small dose.

My cardilogist told me to squat down hold my breath and push, I be Darn it works, so when ever i use to have an episode i will do that exercise and it worked.  However, i didnt have it to much.  But mind you i was always stressed during both my pregnancies with family issues. So i wonder if that is what cause me to have the episodes too. My gyn seceduled me to have my baby by a certain date so just in case anything goes wrong a cardiologist wil be on on staff.

The delivery was successful, no problems at all.  Every now and thin i will have a flutter or palpitation, and when i get it i immediatly squat like i am doing a bowel movement, hold my breath and push, then my heart rate goes back to normal,  I dont have palpitations often, but when i do get it that is what i do.

My cardiologist advised that it may be a good idea to have ( i cant remember the name it starts with an "A" where they do a minor proceure to my heart if i decide to get pregnant again.)  i dont want any one messing with my heart, especially if i can control it.
But at times i get confused because te dr's say that palpitations is noraml during pregancy. Is the palpitation that i have the same as eveyone else that have it and what the dr;s are saying is very normal during pregnancy?
I ask because sometimes i think aout having one more baby then gettig my tubes tied.  I know i shoudl get advised from my Dr. but iwant some comments from my fellow peers and medical advisors online. :+)
