As Deedle '76 posted, I had excellent PVC control with 25mg Atenolol for four years...I then tapered and had a REALLY BAD four months...its possible some of it might have been psychological but I don't know...but if something is working and not adversley affecting your life I would strongly advise to LEAVE IT ALONE.
Geez!!! I'm sorry. My computer froze and when it finally "woke up" the mouse was "stuck." Thus, three identical posts.
Good day everyone!!
One of the interesting things about medication is that, when it works, we stop taking it. Then the problem returns and we find ourselves frustrated. I am sure that you are tempted to wean yourself off the meds to determine if it is them, or other methods that are controlling your PAC's but, please discuss any changes in your intake with your doctor.
There is a good chance your cardio will tell you to go ahead and adjust your meds within a certain range at your discretion, but it's so early in your treatment, he/she may want you to wait a bit before "playing" with the dose.
At the same time, I would be hesitant to play with the dose. You know that old saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it?" Well, "if it's fixed don't break it...."
Whatever happens, good luck and be well.

Hi,
I was tempted to do this too after my PVCs went away on acebutolol. However there is a guy on here called PVCman who had great control for years on a betablocker and tried tapering off but now they PVCs have come back. He then tried upping the dose again but it's not working anymore.
I'm sure he'll reply to this post.
My cardiologist just started me on metoprolol 25mg almost a week ago. Too soon for me to tell if it is helping yet. The only thing for me is I haven't been able to sleep since taking it which is a possible side effect. The doctor said after about 2 wks the side effects should lessen...I sure hope so. But I only take 1 pill at bedtime. I know you can't stop the medicine abruptly. I'd check with your doctor. I thought I'd be on this for life if it works.
