side effects of treatment

l am starting treatment for hcv in 10 days. i have been through chemo for breast cancer 10 years ago. i gather the peg/rib treatment will make me feel about as nasty as i felt during cancer treatment. i did well with that as i tried to keep positive and active. i have increased effexor dosage and plan to drink lots of water. i wonder if there are any other "tricks" to keep me as well as possible during the 6 mos i will have to be treated? my diet is mostly vegetarian and i weigh 110 lbs at 5' 5'. thnx babs

I think it sounds like you have a great handle on what's ahead with your HCV treatment.  I think you will do well if you have the same frame of mind and keep on top of the side effects as they come.  I worked throughout my 48 weeks of TX -- wasn't easy but it got done.

Since you are already on the thin side, be sure to keep up your nutrition during treatment.  You might have to work at that -- which is something I had to do too.

Big hug to you for beating breast CA...now go beat that HCV!!

Everyone reacts differently. Many people are able to work, go to school and fare considerably well. Others have a hard time. I was mostly bedridden during my 32 weeks of treatment, but very quickly felt better after stopping.

Have a look at the health pages, there are a few pages with suggestions for tx.

Wishing you good luck!
