Answer on my screening visit (posted on the other side, too)

A few of you have asked how I did on my second clinic visit (screening for Prove 3).  I had the Lab Work drawn and I'm waiting for the results to get back.  The people there are nice.  The doctor said he thought that my physical was fine and he looked over what records I do have (even though there are not as many there as they'd like, of course).  I passed the second clinic's, EKG test.  I guess that means 'I have a heart'.  :)   They told me that they are not sure if I'll be able to go with my last biopsy, I might have to have another one.  I hope not.  I've already had 3 and I really don't want to have to get another one.  I'd just soon wait for the fibroscan.  Anyway, if I have to get another one to do the trial, I will.  See, if the 1st clinic I went to during this whole process of trying to get into Prove 3, had managed to convince them that my records were sufficient, then I would have been within the 3 year time frame.  My last biopsy was dated 4/26/04.  But, now, I'm not within the 3 year time frame, since I've been pushed back for round 2, because of all this records junk.  The Dr. at clinic #2 told me that he'll try to get them to see that it's not my fault that I wasn't accepted on my 1st try, but, because of them...    Anyway, he said he'd try, but that I may have to get the biopsy.  I want to have some sort of a guarantee that I'll be in on all other fronts, (records, labs, etc.) pending my biopsy BEFORE I will agree to go get stabbed again for a biopsy.  If they're just going to come up with another dumb reason to turn me down, I don't want to go through another biopsy, you know?  Anyway, am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?  It's just that it's hard for me to trust them (the trial people), not the doctor.  The clinic people and the doctor are nice to me.  Susan

Sounds as if you have a fighting chance on this one.   I too understand you not wanting another bx.

I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to have another biopsy, especially if it's not guaranteed you'll be in the trial.

but, from what you posted, it sounds like you're high up on everyone's radar and I predict that may really help you make the cut.

You're officially a PERSON to them, with REAL problems and a REAL life besides the virus.

Got my fingers crossed for you,

Although I think it's good idea to get some level of assurance before another bx that you are otherwise good to go, you are enough of a realist to know that that one dumb thing may still come up. Too many decisions to make sometimes. I still think vx is the route to go, you probably do too.

I'm glad to hear you have been given another chance. That's great. I wish you the best wishes in the clinical trial. You are helping all of us and those that will diagnosed later too. Take good care.
