It looks like 48 weeks, Bocep yields 76% SVR rate, and 28 weeks yields 56% SVR according to phase 2. Bocep also yields 94% if clear at 8 weeks. All of that info is based on treatment naïve. I’m guessing it is about 2 years behind Vertex.
interesting...so BOC is looking at a full 48 weeks for their tx plan? How far behind vertex are they?
I believe that vertex is narrowing thiers down to 24 weeks...will BOC follow suit?
That’s in ARM 1, if you are non-responder at 12 weeks and receiving the placebo, they will give the real drug for the balance of 48 weeks.
earlier in this thread you said that after week 12 if you had the placebo they would do a roll over and give you the real thing...
are you sure...I mean...I thought the trial was a 48 week trial?
wouldn't they have to wait till after the 48 weeks to roll you into something different?
gator
Have you ever heard of that show called the "BLUE MAN GROUP"...its a play that stars 4 men on stage all dressed from head to toe in bright blue suits...i will be one of those guys after taking these fat blue pills for one year

Yup... Waiting for the PCR results will be the tell all. BTW... My urine is turning blue, is yours? : )
also ....he will get the roll over into the open trial, if he dont clear by wk 12...all is not over...
I am sorry ...but we still dont know if its the taste or not...did you slide a pill open and take a small taste...?...try that...when i di it..its almost unbearable....still no proof tho...at least thats what i think...you said a year off work...im confused...you said you just started....try to taste the pill on the tonge
KENILWORTH, N.J., November 24, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Schering-Plough Corporation today provided a clinical update on boceprevir, its lead investigational oral hepatitis C protease inhibitor currently in Phase III development. The company believes boceprevir has the potential to be a first-in-class and best-in-class protease inhibitor for treating chronic hepatitis C. The company also announced that it is developing a highly potent next-generation oral hepatitis C protease inhibitor that has future best-in-class potential. The compound, known as SCH 900518 is currently in Phase IIa clinical development. The update was presented today as part of the company's 2008 R&D Update meeting at its headquarters in Kenilworth, N.J.
"As pioneers in the hepatitis field, our vision is to apply our experience and innovation, as we have in the past, to continue to redefine and improve treatments for chronic hepatitis C, in the near term and in the future," said Thomas P. Koestler, Ph.D., executive vice president and president, Schering-Plough Research Institute.
The company reported for the first time that in a Phase II study, a 48-week boceprevir regimen achieved an unprecedented 75 percent sustained virologic response (SVR) rate at 24 weeks after the end of treatment (SVR 24) in patients who received 4 weeks of PEGINTRON(TM) (peginterferon alfa-2b) and REBETOL(R) (ribavirin, USP) prior to the addition of boceprevir (800 mg TID) (P/R lead-in). This represents a near doubling of the 38 percent SVR 24 rate for patients in the control group receiving 48-weeks of PEGINTRON and REBETOL alone (ITT).(1,2) In a 28-week boceprevir P/R lead-in regimen, the SVR 24 rate was 56 percent. Importantly, for patients who received the boceprevir P/R lead-in regimen and had rapid virologic response (RVR), defined as undetectable virus (HCV-RNA) in plasma after 4 weeks of boceprevir treatment, SVR was 94 percent in the 48 week regimen and 82 percent in the 28-week regimen. RVR has been shown to be a reliable predictor for achieving SVR. These final results are from the HCV SPRINT-1 study in 595 treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1.

Notice the RVR rate with 4 weeks of BOC.... SVR was 94 percent for 48 weeks and 82 percent for 28
Thanks so much for the link, hopefully he can do something else .He has been on the peg and riba for 78 weeks and we are no better off than when he started. Ruth
Hey, Everyone. My husband just started the boceprevir last week and doesn't have any bad/metallic taste problem. Boy, is he DISAPPOINTED! A year off work, all the regular
flu-like side effects, and not getting the trial drug after all. The taste problem sounds dreadful, but he'd still welcome it right now. Keep up the fight guys!!
Now thats what i want to hear....good feedback....you made my day....maybe...just maybe....i struck the motherlode....i know one thing...if i SVR....i will be sending Scring and plough left testicle and right arm as a gift
Rocker you're funny. Howdyou do that and be taking all those sh!tty meds at the same time? Good goin man.
Blue pills, what next. This is just the kind of sordid detail I like to hear, the taste and all the rest. Nothing better to prepare anybody who might want to try BOC some day. I was in the Vertex Prove2 trial and can vouch for the fact that the real deal tasted bitter so that you could not help gagging while swallowing. The placebo tasted of nothing much and could even be sucked in the mouth without going into shock.
Best to you
dointime
About time you gave my my due....its ok tho...i just thought your meds were causing brain damage and your forget...i will forgive you this time only.....
Foo.....Don't know how I forgot you two
Not sure either, but i am sure alot of people would love to know. :0)
Best to you
can
Don't know how I forgot you two, I have you both on my cheat sheet. Trying to stay on top of what is going on with everyone.
So Fret, then you guys coming up next. We'll stay tuned!
I think you thought they would let me have my pills on the 17th and then I would not take them until later.
The site coordinator from Schering was in the office the day I called and she was the one that OK'd me taking them with my trial nurses, but said no to taking them home on the 17th. I was just so happy that they let me do the appointment.
Sorry if I didn't give you props for your two cents. Thanks to Jim and Rocker for their ideas.
Thanx sis.....dont worry bout us...we can handle anything...bring it on....lets party
But they have a roll over....i would not drop out if i knew i was getting candy...i will still get the real deal at wk 12....still a chance....what the else ya gonna do?....hold on....you do have a point....some would quit and wait for a better trial...less chance of virus mutation....awwwwwwww
I did shot 4 last night and will be taking the big blue magic pills next week.
I would suspect that they would put the metalic taste in the placibo or some people that didn't get the taste may dropout.
Good luck to all!
Just wanted to say that I find it wonderful that you are so many to be riding this one out together. It is really heartwarming to watch you guys! I wish all of you the best going through this! And I really pray you will have minor sides and that you will all SVR.
