Just checking in and I've notice a lot of new comers here. Been reading comments about itching and hair lost. I'm on week 35/72 - Geno type 1a, SVR after wk 12 of treatment. I too have and am still having hair loss. I have locs so, I lose anywhere from 5 to 8 a week. I am thinking about just cutting them all off because I can't dare where my hair uncovered now with the ball spots here and there and also the gray. I wear scarves now. I bought two wigs and gave one away. I haven't worn the other one I don't like it and will look for another one. Hi to mkeela and SFbayareagirl and all. Oh and to everyone having the itching, I had it so bad that I was crying each night and felt like i was going crazy. I tried everything, creams, ointments, oatmeal baths, you name it. I went to a dermo and he solved the problem by prescribing hydroxyzine hcl. Hang in there everyone, its worth it but it is not easy.
Just looked up the med and it's atarax, a name I'm familar with. I guess I'll ask my pcp for some, he's a lot easier to get a hold of than my P.A. at the hep clinic.

If you were UND at 12 weeks you only need do 48 weeks. There is no study in the universe to support doing 52 so I don't know why your doc would do that.
the wigs....I have about five at home that I don't wear (could wear to the store but not to work every day you know) it IS a hit or miss thing so that is why I got them on ebay.
if you want I'll look up the brand name that worked the best for me....maybe that would help you?
Post tx 7 weeks and my hair is GROWING. Hard to believe it. Your hair should grow a 1/2 inch a month so in no time...we can at least go out and get Jessica Simpson hair extensions! hahahaha what a world we heppers live in huh?
(PS I did get them for my daughter for "fun" and they are so incredible that nobody on earth would EVER be able to tell they were not real and she has VERY funky colored hair of different colors and it blended PERFECTLY).

Yes, LOL, glad that's what you meant. If I were svr I wouldn't be treating! I'm so ready to quit, and I feel great today! I feel pretty good Tues-Friday. I'm not from the same hardy, stiff-upper lip, stock like all you who tx for 48+ weeks. I'm an-all about me- this is a inconvience-type of person. Thanks, I was und at 3,4 and 12.
Yes, LOL - Ladybug I meant UND at week 12. I guess I've been away from the forum to long and have forgotten the correct terminology here. I thought the doc said 72 weeks but maybe he said 52 wks. Hopefully its the latter. I see him next week 3/27 another 3 month update. Aren't you UND too.
