Yes, thanks.
When I arrived at the hospital in Taiwan, they said they were concerned that my daughter might have fatty liver. I assumed it was because of something on her preliminary tests. Turns out, they made a stereotypical assumption expecting all Americans to be fat. Boy did we surprise them, being small and trim!
Thank you for explaining it. My dad also served in Vietnam, and they are wondering what being exposed to could've caused this.
NASH is fatty liver when no alcohol is used. It is much more prevalent among obese people. It can lead to cirrhosis if not caught in time.
Was your father and other relatives big drinkers? Alcohol is a big cause of liver disease.
There are many simple things you can do to take good care of your liver. I can't list them all here but you could do a google search for 'healthy liver' or look into the American Liver Foundation. There's a lot of information out there.
The main thing is not to drink alcohol. Eat healthy. Avoid toxins including what you inhale, that means be careful of chemical cleaners. And exercise.
If I were you I'd try not to worry, fear does not help.
BTW: This forum is focused on hepatitis. I have no idea what NASH is.
