Insurance w/ military & Pre-treatment

My insurance is thru the military. Did anyone have a problem w/ Tricare paying? I hear so many problems with other companies it has me nervous. I haven't started tx yet. Soon, tho, real soon. Also, some have mentioned pre- treatment things they have been doing. What are they? Are there prelems I need to know about before going thru tx? I read here every day trying to prepare myself. I am home alone a LOT. My hubby works l-o-n-g hours as a recruiter and we have a 3yr old so I feel I need to be VERY prepared to do this.

hi, welcome to the forum. do you know what condition your liver is in?do you know your Geno type? if you are a geno 1 the tx is longer than those who have geno 2 for instance. 48 weeks compared to 24 weeks. i believe geno 3 is also 24 weeks.

as far as prep before tx,I'm not sure what you are referring to. Of course I'm sure you know alcohol is not to be consumed.

tx is differnet for everyone. I am a geno 2 and thus far i don't have any side effects to speak of, TG. I did have bone pain, but not of late. I did have bumps of both elbows, but they went away,(coco butter)

The injection is very very easy to do. You don't feel a thing. I was quite surprised about that. Some lose weight, I thought I would and have only lost 2 lbs and am going on my 6th shot.

some doctors give anti depressants prior to tx. I refused them and left my doc becasue of it. Thus far, I am not depressed. Some people are affected mentally and the ad's have helped greatly. What ever you have to do to get through the tx is something that you have to consider. The people who have the hardest times it seems are the ones whose hemo drops suddenly and no one knows ahead of time who that may be. I take vitamins, without iron, and I take alot of B 12/b6 which builds red blood cells. So far my hemo has not dropped but a bit.

try not to worry ahead of time, I made that mistake and worried for nothing thus far. I look at today only just to keep my sanity and not become any more neurotic than I already am.

wish you the best. keep us posted with your progress.

I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago while hubby was in Iraq thanks to a thorough OB/GYN. Guess I was infected over 20 yrs ago. Was told back then that I had nonAnonB. No doc has EVER questioned me about that diagnoses until this doc. Not even the OB/GYN I was seeing for my last pregnancy. And I've been pregnant 3 times since back then. Unbelievable!!
I think I'm geno 1 the doc did say the treatment was 52 wks for me. The biopsy placed me on the scales between 0-1 on one thing and 1-2 on another. When I get back to the doc I'll make sure to gather all this info and stay up on it. I guess I was in so much shock and had so many other things going on back then I didn't process like I should have. Thanks to this forum I know better now.

wow! that is unbelievable!

stick close to the forum, read as much as you can. There are alot of well informed folks on board, and you'll learn more here than at your doctors. continue to ask questions, someone will always have an answer. There is a doctor,'HR' who visits with us and is more than happy to help us with the more difficult questions we have also.

keep us posted as you start tx.

see ya!
