Hello Friends! - Checking In!

Well after three or so months of stopping failed triple therapy I am free of all symptoms and feeling good again. My skin is starting to tan :) . A little late for that but still I look so much better. I feel so much better too! Those drugs are horrible and I can only imagine what I would have felt and looked like had I completed 48 weeks. I did 26 weeks and either had breakthrough or was a non-responder since I was never und. Anyway I am doing well and living a healthy lifestyle through diet, no drinking and keeping my weight where it should be. Now I wait for new meds to try :) . IDK if I would have done the triple drug tx had I known how bad it can be. At least now I have experienced it. There are so many misconceptions and stereotypes about hep C that if I had it to do over I would not have told anyone except my good friends on this forum. I will check in a little more often now that I have had some time to get my life back. Peace and best wishes to all here, especially those presently txing.

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better!!  I hope the new drugs are easier for you to tolerate and that they work for you!  What a trooper!

Lol, I looked so old and grey hobbling around town, when I was treating. After the whole thing was over, a couple months post, I dyed my hair blacjk, and people told me I looked 10 yrs younger, they thought it was the hair color, but it was the fact that I was no longer anemic.
I could just never seem to make people understand: it's the friggin treatment makin me look like this, NAWT the Hep C...grrr

I had a long reply typed but it didn't post. The gist of it was that, yes, I was devastated and cried but was also glad to stop the meds and that I feel so much worse for those who went the distance only to not obtain SVR. No one deserves that. For those, I also cry. :'(

Hi Carl,

I was so sorry the way your tx worked out.  It must have been devastating at the time.  It is a wonderment though that you are doing better so soon.  Thank goodness!

And more good news that there are newer and better drugs on the way!

Things are looking much better now for you than they did three month ago.

True story: I was at work yesterday when I posted this thread. Shortly afterward a customer comes in and is amazed at my appearance! Short story shorter, he said that I look five years younger then when he last saw me! :) My doctor also indicated that new, gentler, drugs are very near!!! ALL side effects are gone.

I have an acquaintance who is a hepatologist and top researcher.
He sometimes e-mails me  about what's happening in the field of Hep C tx.

This past week he emailed that the next treatment will be a lot less toxic and easier to tolerate. He indicates it's just around the corner.

Take care of yourself. eat good and rest so you'll be ready for the new meds. I treated three times before SVR this last time.

It was new medication that did it for me.

Good to hear you feel better, and the new Treatments coming down the pipe-line will be far superior.
