You can add flax seed meal to smoothies, cereal, pudding etc. It's high in fat and helps to keep the weight on.
I've only used it during tx.
I put it in my oatmeal, granola and fruit shakes.
You can buy it at health food stores.
I'm pretty sure it's tylenol. I never use it, but during tx it was so incredibly valuable, and when I had the bone pain in my legs, doc told me to go up to 8 tablets a day (only had to twice). But one tablet 15 minutes before dinner allowed me to sit with the family and force myself to eat when 20 minutes before the thought of it it was nauseating.
Kristina what exactly is that in English hehe? I will try anything!
You just reminded me that when my hubby cooked dinner, if I didn't feel like eating I'd have a panadol/paracetamol and 15 minutes later I felt fine to eat..... that really helped!!
I was trying to come up with something but it changes every few days. Some days inward everything in site most days I forget to eat all together because I'm not hungry I eat a pudding with my 6 am meds. Or maybe half a pb&j sandwich but I've found on treatment it has to be creamy because the crunchy or just nuts make my stomach cramp badly. I can do one or two small donuts the chocolate ones like little Debbie I think the small ones. Have you tried oatmeal or grits. I know you said food but mint and honey green tea always calms my stomach and it helps me eat. But normally I just force my self to eat something because I know I have too. I'm losing weight but its not major considering how little I eat and I was heavy so it's okay that I lose a little.
Thank you I love Grill Cheese I can add it in I never even thought about that!
All i could eat with any substance was grilled cheese and scrambled eggs. I ate that for 3 months and don't think i will ever enjoy that food again. Good luck, make your self eat smething, i know its hard and different foods work for different people - but i found something that i could handle and just ate it everyday.
Banana Smoothies; cereal with bananas raisins and yoghurt; dinners: meat free bolognaise with kidney beans as a substitute; fish wrapped in tinfoil and poached in water with veges and mashed veges; (chicken done the same without the skin). Mashed sardines on toast with a few tomatoes/green peppers and a little grated cheese. Salmon sandwiches. Poached eggs and omelettes. (that was probably my six month menu)... but I also juiced beetroot, celery and carrot once a week and froze it in plastic cups - would have one a night or every second night with my dinner.
Breakfast is good for me too I like to eat in the morning I am going to get cucumbers and some other things tonight your right if the stomach gets empty I feel worse I am on the Victrelis instead of the Invcek-
I hear ya Dawn its cereal fruit cups bananas protein drinks oh yes and Ice cream. Any thing creamy. I take the gummie bear vitamins. I made a decision on Mondays I work half day shot from Friday seems to hit me then. Have a great day dont get to anemic its harmful.
I too am anorexic from treament, at times very severe. even with having to consume 20 g of fat with each dose of the incivek, I have lost quite a bit of weight. I eat lots of applesauce, bananas as long as they are not too ripe, Chicken stock with rice, try to add some finely shredded chicken breast, and I still get my kefir down and once in a while i can tolerate yogurt, recently since my hgb has dropped so much, I added in some nutritional drinks. I also should own stock in ice cream companies. Like bogal says, graze throughout the day.
Uhm, are you on the Triple Therapy,(for genotype 1) or just the Interferon and Ribavirin (used for genotype 2)
The reason I ask, is if you are on the Triple, with Incivek, then there is a requirement to eat 20 grams of fat with the meds.
But I will assume you are not, and tell you what I usually eat. Well, I have heard even the Ribavirin is better absorbed, with some fat calories, so I always take my meds with a whole yogurt. I also tend to keep alot of bananas around.
A real meal is better for us, of course...but nobody is making me any, and I dont have too much energy. A few times a week, I take myself out to breakfast, and have scrambled eggs, and they seem to go down nicely.
I always feel better (less side effects) when I eat well, and I tend to graze thru-out the day. I find, if I let my stomach get empty, then I will lose my appetite.
I used to heat up a tortilla on the burner, and then put peanut-butter in it, and then got sick of that. Today I bought pita bread and hummus, and a store prepared salad, which has chicken-salad in it also.
