Google Maps used for scams?
Wonder if anyone has heard anything about this or can offer a different explanation for what my mind jumped to.
This morning I used Google Maps to view the area around a small piece of property I own in central Texas. There are now dozens of 'camera icons' up and down the road in this subdivision that weren't there a couple months ago. Each has a fake address and a similar picture of an empty stretch of road. Anyone familiar with this area would know that the addresses aren't accurate and are spaced too closely for the minimum size lot in this area, but someone looking for a 'bargain' in today's real estate market could easily be tricked into believing they were seeing an accurate representation of land offered for sale.
I plan to contact the local Tax Assesor/Collector's office on Monday, but in the meantime wonder if anyone has heard of similar scams

OK I figured it out. Each one of those little cameras contains a 360 degree view of a point on the road used by Google Earth's 'Street View' feature. The inaccurate street addresses are (hopefully) just a flaw in Google's info rather than any malicious real estate scam. I don't know if I'm more creepified or less knowing this. I certainly understad this article a little better.

Govts have special sattilites that can read a licence plate on a car in detail....BELEIVE IT
Add to that, the domain name servers will take you for a nice ride on every page look up. They will take you to 5 - 10 sites that are all tracking what everyone is doing on the net before they take you to the site you clicked on. Big brother is here!
I don't know anything about google maps being used for scams but I can guarantee they will be using it to increase property taxes. We googled our address and the giant koi pond, 2 new run-ins for the horses and his new unfinished garage are there as plain as day. And there are cameras popping up everywhere that can use facial recognition for law enforcement purposes.
