Is it to late for me?

Hi everyone, I am new to this sight and from some of the post i have read I think this will help me. About twenty yrs ago I was told i had hep c and back then I think it was fairly new anyway I have spent the past twenty years on a meth rollercoaster and people who are meth don't go to doctors. Now that I am not on meth I want to get this hep c checked out and I an scared to death they are going to tell me i waited to long and i am going to die. I don't want to die now that i am happy and clean. What do you think? I should be scared huh?

I was a user too for many years and came out with Stage 0 - no liver damage.  Probably had Hep C between 10 - 20 years.  Don't be scared your not going to die.
Get a good Hep doctor and have a biopsy done to see exactly how much damage you have.

God bless you for stopping the meth. I was a meth user over 24yrs ago .I believe that is where i got infected with hep c . I am not a doctor nor is anyone else here. The only way you can find out about what shape your liver is in is to get a biopsy. Good luck to you

"I've met Andiamo and let me tell you ... that energizer battery has a long long life ahead of it to go bam bam bam bam.... "

ROFLMAO!!!

I'm not even gonna go there with that one!

Hugs!

Hey Worried - TX - Mom.

Chill - go get checked out - get your biopsy - find your viral load --- determine how sick you are now... decide if you want to go on Treatment Chemotherapy.

Then do it - and well - heck - stop worrying.

It's a big deal --- but like childbirth - you get over it. LOL!

Do you know how bad meth is on your liver? Is it as bad as drinking alcohol?

I had hepc for over 25 years or so and once I got off my own rollercoaster (and no doctor living) I decided to treat.  Get a good doctor and at least go and find out if you need to treat or not.  It's not a matter of how long you've had the disease...it's how much damage has been done to your liver. Your just might be ok!

It's only too late if you are dead - smile.  Please don't be scared. Keep copies of all your labs. The dr. can put on the top of your outstanding order "copy to pt." You will want to watch your liver heal and keep your eye on the hemoglobin.  Drink lots of water while on treatment. The only time I didn't drink enough water I got a horrible headache that lasted all night.

I have to go to my first infared sauna treatment to detox now. I'm also drinking wheatgrass that I grind at home.

Congratulations on beating the meth habit. Welcome to the forum.

I have had HCV since 1977. I just finished one year of treatment last week.

This is an excellent forum.

I don't think you should be scared.  I have HCV since 1961 and I am still going strong.  Like the battery commercial.

You should find a good hepatologist and get a biopsy ASAP so you know exactly where you are with this.  Most likely, you will lead a long and happy life.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.  You will find lots of support and good advice here.
