Just wonderin'...

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had anything like this...I'm Genotype 2a, 13 weeks into tx and NDV at the midway point of this journey. 11 more weeks to go!  Wooohooo!

I know that rashes, skin problems and that damned ole itchy scratchy feeling due to the Riba is just a part of this wonderful treatment, but a couple or three weeks ago I went to my primary physician with a rash that looked like I had laid down in poison ivy and rolled around.  After consulting with my GI they decided put me on OTC Pepcid 4 times a day and Allegra.  Things cleared it up pretty good.  I eventually had to get off the Allegra due to dehydration factors and just a few days ago, stopped taking the Pepcid.  What the heck does acid have to do the price of tea in China? I thought.

Well, the rash is back.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

I developed a red rash that flares up like hives all over my legs and inner thighs and upper arms between 5 & 6 mos into my tx.  My dx told me to take Benadryl which i purchased but never really took it.  My PCP gave me a script for hydrocortisone cream which really helped.  She said to only use it when it flared up.

Since then, i make sure i drink a lot of water, use moisturizer, a humidifier and there haven't been any flare ups.  I can still see little tiny red bumps here and there but it's under control.

I like wyn's def for NDV...too funny :-)

No Distinctive Virus...but I liked your definition better.

No idea why they would prescribe Pepsid for rash, unless you had an adult version of "diaper rash" caused by diarreah and sometimes treated with antacids.   Anyway, why don't you ask your doctor why and please report back. I'm curious.

As to moving forward, consider going back to the antihistamine (Allegra) with more hydration if the doctor allows. If not, I'd see a skin specialist (dermatologist) for proper diagnosis and treatment.
