Peanut Butter Recall

Hi Gang! I have been having a hard time seeing notes on the forum this past week (and don't have much time these days on-line) Hope everyone's doing great!

I just heard this on the news and wanted to come here quickly to post it - about Salmonella / Peanut Butter recall  (I think it's Salmonella).  The product number they gave on our local news was 2111 (might be different numbers in different areas - don't know, but we had TWO JARS of the possibly contaminated, otherwise delicious Peter Pan peanut butter.  No PJB for me tonight!)

LOL! You must have married her for her brains, and she married you....? My tip for the day is petroleum goes on the hands not in the mouth, and don't confuse petroleum with peanut butter when using it on your hands.

I got sick after eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I thought it was bad peanut butter but Karen suspected it was the jelly. I always thought petroleum jelly was good for you but she said "not with peanut butter". Mike

I think when the do a recall they throw a wide net.

Not every container is necessarily contaminated in that batch.

Glad you guys who did have the code numbered jars are OK.

I don't usually eat the Peter Pan, I don't know if I even did. The diarrhea was a couple of weeks ago. Probably not related. I'm fine now! Are you enjoying your long weekend?
Hugs!

I heard on the news that a teacher for a first grade class decided to make pb&j sandwiches for a class project on Valentines day. Guess what kind of peanut butter they used? Well the nurse and health officials have been watching the class and hadn't reported any illness so far. It could be a random thing, I have no idea!

My mom also has the recall and had eaten about half the jar but no problems so that is good.  Walmart said they would take back and give her another jar also.  That is strange that some are getting sick from that certin lot but others aren't.

You'd think I would ahve checked immediately but I normally eat jif. I looked just now at the all but empty jar and it's the recall jar. Guess it didn't effect us, although I've had diarrhea doesn't everybody now and then?

My husband has not been feeling well for past 5 -7 days; in our local paper the product number was published and he checked it with our Peter Pan jar and it matched!! He called our health dept. and was advised to do a specimen (which he will).  Don't know yet if he actually had salmonella poisoning, but I ate some of the stuff also.  I have not felt anything.   Will not be eating anything further from this jar.   Is it possible that one person will suffer symptoms and another not?

The one thing that I can't understand, is how do the salmon get in the peanut butter jar in the first place?

Gosh I hope no one got or GETS sick from PB!  2 jars!  We had 2 jars of the mess!  2111!  hmmm... we got some organisms out there lately.  I can't look at Tacos or Nacho Bell Grandes the same way anymore; I can't think of spinach or salad in a bag the same way anymore;  McDonalds, forget it. Oysters, forget it.  And here comes Peter Pan?  Chunky?  lol.  Salmonyeller.  I'm beginning to think I might as well live dangerously and eat carp!

I knew a lot of people here did eat peanut butter with their riba, and ... sheesh!  The first I thought was "ut oh - I know some people who need to know about this if they don't yet).  Hopefully no more will get sick.  Salmonella in PEANUT BUTTER??  The only thing I ate with peanut butter in it lately was too many reeses cups :)
