I had severe pain after my biopsy in right shoulder. I was given a shot of demerol. When I woke up the second time the pain was gone. I was told to ..NEVER..take tylenol. It is too hard for the liver to filter. I am one of the unlucky ones who can't take treatment. Hope you get well soon.
Because of my low plalet count <70k, I *had* to have a transjugular biop. Sounds nasty but really it wasn't that bad. Even went to work afterwards but I was still too doped up,
so I went home and to bed. But no other painful side affects ... my ins covered it
and I'd do it again. (probably will have too eventually). They *say* it's actually safer
because it keeps any bleeding withing the blood system.
2 cents worth, sorry for the interruption.
I had the same thing 5 minutes after the bx the bad pain started...it subsided and was gone in 24 hours.I didnt take anything........
Hope you feel better soon
it is okay to take Tylenol occaisionally if you have low liver damage - I was told that the only time they are apprehesive about it is with a chirrotic liver..
I also had right shoulder pain and pain in my upper right back and in the rib area. Felt like I had pneumonia or something. Called the P.A. and they said that sometimes referred pain can last for weeks but as long as it wasn't increasing in intensity I shouldn't worry ( ha - I worry about EVERYTHING) Did you have pain immediately after the bx. was performed? Since I did I had to stay an extra 2 hours. Perhaps a call to your doc will ease your mind. Take care.
When I had my 2nd biopsy, I had the same thing. They told me that it was bile that seeped out during the procedure. It went away after a few hours, but in the meantime, It felt like I was having a heart attack. Right after the biopsy they took me and did an EKG because it was so painful.
Shoulder pain is "referred pain" caused by pain in the liver that the brain does not process properly. I had it after all three of my biopsies, but it never lasted more than a few hours. You should talk to your doctor before you take any more Ibuprophen. Make sure he/she thinks it is ok to take it.
Usually that abates before going home. At least it did with my first one, which is the only one that I had any reaction at all too. Ibuprophen is a no-no until you get your results. Anything that ends in ophen -:) I know, it's about the only thing that works and they don't want us to take it. They say take a Tylenol (acetomenophen) -:))) ??? Go figure. -:)
If it persist into tomorrow, I would call the Dr. and ask him but it really should go away by then. Could just be a delayed reaction. Had you been laying on that shoulder?
Maybe someone else has a better tho't. This is mine. -:) Hope it gets better soon.
