Too Tired

Hi,
I am in my 17th week of treatment. I have about had it, I feel tired all the time, my muscles ache, I have sores in my mouth so I can't eat right and my hair keeps falling out. I feel like I can't keep going I miss way to much work I have had a few times during treatment that I missed 2-3 days in a week. And alot of times that I only worked 4 days in a week. Tried changing my injections from Friday to Thursday it helped me to make it into work on Monday but I am now finding myself tired and burned out by Thursday. Stressing bills that need to be paid, tired of worrying about the bills but not feeling good enough to come into work everyday. But have to work to pay the bills, just getting tired of it all and ready to stop this treatment.

I wanted to offer my heartfelt congratulations that you beat this damn disease. You are an inspiration to us all.  The way I look at this is a victory for one is a victory for all and anyone that goes through the hell of treatment is one tough human being.

Best,
Scott

I had the mouth sores all during treatment (I treated for 72 weeks).  It was one of the worst parts of treatment by far for me. I actually started taking peroxide and putting it on a q-tip and trying to kill them that way. It actually hurt like hell but lasted for a few days.

NOTHING else worked - no mouth washes or meds nothing.

As soon as I stopped the interferon it went right away. The doc said that is definitely what causes it.

I have to warn you...food never tasted so GOOD when I finally got to eat - wow.

Good luck.

Definatley check your hemoglobin, some of what you are describing sounds like dehydration.  Are you a you drinking enough water?  There is a formula for how much water to drink, if I followed that I would have your symptoms everyday.  There are many daily variables such as temperature, humidity, and exertion that determines how much water you need.  As soon as I feel anything like an ache I look at my water consumption.  From my experience with treatment (118 weeks) the most consistent thing is when I'm not feeling well, my urine has color.  When my urine is clear, I feel the best.  I try to maintain a very slight color.  The mouth sore thing falls in line as well.  I use Biotene dry mouth tooth paste and mouth wash and have not had a sore or any sign of blood in 2 years.

Come back and let us know what dr says. I was ready to quit about a week ago and glad I found all these wonderful people. Know that we all act a little silly at times but that is just how I manage things, it really helps but that's just my take.  Read a funny book or stick a comedian in the dvd! My SO was laughing at me last night when I was dancing around the house (for about 30 sec before I crashed on the couch ha ha!)Hang in there....

Talk to you hepatologist about Provigil.  This is a drug that is for narcolepsy, but I hear it works well for hep c patients who experience chronic fatigue during treatment.

sorry to hear your not feeling well. i am about where you are in tx, timewise. i will be doing shot 18 tomorrow. i have not had much sx, however. if i may ask, what meds are you on? i am on Pegasys 180 mg/ riba 1200 mg. have you asked your Dr. what can be done to help with the sx? are you drinking enough water? the formula to determine what is enough water is to take your divide by 2 and drink that many oz.  so if you weigh 100 lbs. you would drink 50 oz. of water. hope you feel better, hang in there!

Did you check your hemoglobin? Should be 12 or more.

Tell your doctor exactly what you told us and perhaps he can put you on restricted work (3 days a week) for awhile.

I told my doc about it and they made up a magic mouthwash that i had filled at the drugstore. works great on the ones that you can rinse to, because you have to spit it out....you can't swallow it.
