Working while tx-ing

How  was your work performance affected by tx? My occupation requires much problem-solving and deadline sensitivity...

Everything Trish77 said.  I have pushed myself but it's a gradual thing and I've been able to keep the pace.  No one at work has a clue.  Somedays when I get home I lay down and take a nap.  But heck, it's been about 105 and that will draw it out of anyone!  Also I have to have my insurance.  I have to have my job.  So there was little real choice for me.
Overall...I've done just fine and no one here knows a thing.
I'd say a good mind set will serve you well.
Good Luck to you!

My work also requires much problem-solving and deadline sensitivity.  I have found that focusing on my work takes my mind off of how I feel.  I also find that being able to keep working has a mental boost factor that gives me a physical boost.  I also find that the constant exercising of my mind keeps my thinking processes sharp.  I have had to make use of weekends in particular to rest up enough to get through the week and earlier in treatment, I was going to bed at 7pm some days, 9pm at other days.  For a night owl and an early riser, that was an adjustment.  I learned to get as much rest as my body demanded and so far it has kept me employed.  I have also kept myself occupied with things I enjoy that have pushed me to my limits but have given me a mental boost that gives me a physical energy boost as well.  It's all about finding balance.  To do the things that matter most to you, you have to compensate by allowing yourself enough "downtime" around those things and really focusing on priorities at times like this.  Hope that helps.

I'm a big baby and took 3 months leave without pay to see how I'd go with the side effects and the blood work and to look after myself to the ultimate.
The down side is that it's winter and I can't get out and exercise as I'd like to.  Now that I've nearly completed the first month, I'm hoping I can look at putting a date on returning to work; but if i can manage financially, I'll do home stuff instead that I've put off for sometime :-)
In the meantime, however, I'm very grateful to be concentrating on myself.  I'm sure it would have a lot to do with your stage and grade and the type of work you do.  There was a lot of pressure in my job and while I love it, and miss it, I think I needed the break anyway.
Good luck with the decision making and the beginning of tx.

I worked 11 hour days through 2 different tx rounds.  Did my work suffer? Yep!

But I went public with my status and told everyone I worked with and most of our customers.  I teach dispensing optics, speak to organizations and internally wrie our newsletter and website.  Much harder on and even after tx.

But working through it I felt better then the few days i did stay home.  At home I always felt all the sides and pains.  It took the 11 hour days to produce 7-8 hours of productiviity.

With 1 or 2 exceptions I had all the support you could ask for at work.

My approach to working through tx and any bad days after is to dress a little better than normal, make sure I'm lookin good! (As good as I can anyway)  If people didn't say that I looked good! (ie healthy) than I made a little more effort the next day.  I smile a lot even when I dont feel it and dont complain much.  If people ask how I'm feeling I'd ask if they wanted fact or fiction and than tailor my answer.  many days I could barely drag myself out of bed, but I knew I'd feel worse if I stayed home and had time to feel bad for myself.

By talking about HCvV instead of perpetuating the stigma we sometimes encounter, a number of coworkers and customers went for testing at least 4 who had no idea were diagnosed with Hep.

It can be done, but some people are totally debilitated while some I met who NEVER went online had a fairly easy time trough tx.  There are a number like that, you never see them posting because they dont have the sides to the extremes or the  need for support or just dont work that way.

I'm waiting for an easier treatment after 2 unsucsessful tries I have a numbe of leftover sides.

good luck.

Kim

I work construction. Over all i did well. I did have some bad days here and there but i was able to do my job on tx. It was easier for me during the winter monthes. Summer seemed to suck the life out of me. It is different for everyone.

I have been on TX for over a year now. I have to say that my performance has suffered, especially in the last three months. I work as an engineer and do a lot of problem solving. The difficulty for me is just getting up in the morning and moving. I think it is because my hemaglobin is pretty low (9.1).

Everyone suffers these side effects differently. I hope your work situation is flexible so you can work around the most difficult times.
