There have been many many people on this forum who have treated and have been cured (known as reaching SVR) who are genotypes 1a and 1b.

i am genotype 1a i am at week 24 and UND at 12 weeks.  like the other i am looking forward to SVR!!!

I too am Genotype 1 and just finished 48 wks of tx and just received my first 1 month post tx lab and am UND.  The year seemed like hell at times but now that it is over it is all in the past and seemed to go very fast.

Agree totally with DB O "Lotto style stuff, cant win if  you dont play"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am/was a Geno 1A and 1B - treated 72 weeks and have been HCV free for the 17 months post treatment.

Cured? Yup! Yup yup yup!  :)

Iam geno 1a, stage 4, extended tx., svr, last pcr 2/08 und. 18 mths post. My hep has been a researcher for many years, says iam am cured but at 2 yr. post testing i will feel alot  better. I pray everday the virus is gone, but i also realize hep c is a very virulent and elusive virus.  Never give up, I wasnt given much hope of clearing but i did. Good Luck with your tx.....Leah...  MRI done 2 wks. ago showed only mild cirrhosis, much improved from previous MRI.  I havent rebiopsied yet. Dont let the doc get you down by telling you ,"there is a good possibility you wont clear".  They cant tell who will clear iam a prime example, i cried for a month after being told i had only 3 to 5 years to live, and here iam 4 yrs later with a much improved liver, svr,much better perspective on life, and feeling better than i have in 15 yrs.  Sorry about the soap box, i just had to vent..

I agree with sfwandwow, there is always hope, all you need is faith.
I am geno 1, start tx, as soon as meds get here. We'll know by week 12 if it is working.

there is always hope.. everyone that walks around has the antibodies, I beleive if u have faith and trust in HIM JESUS u will be fine he is the best physician of the world..
