need advise

Hello all and hope all are well. Haven't posted in awhile due to extremely busy schedule as of late! I am now week 48/72 and going strong. Lots of snow and ice here and need to see my specialist on friday which is 150 miles away and I have a mustang mach 1 which doesn't move in the snow lol...now to some ?'s...I have been receiving unemployment comp. and I was told my my former employer to file and advised to state able to work ie answer a phone for 1/2 hr a day. They have been paying me since 12/13/06. I received a phone call last night from my ltd carrier in which I appealed  their initial denial, stating my ltd has been approved and I need to apply for ssd???? I am not sure how this works. They are sending me a check from July06 until present and are paying me now on a monthly basis. They deducted my unemployment from this check and advised me to contact them to let them know(unemployment). If my ltd did go through then do I have insurance through them? I am so confused on this....any help would be appreciated. Happy Valentines day to all!!!!:)shelly

Had to think for a minute - ltd = long term disability

I have a client that was just approved by her company for long term disability and was told she must now apply for SSD.  It seems that these long term disability programs are somehow integrated with social security. There is a set payment which you will receive, but they only have to pay what SSD does not to reach that amount.  When you become eligible for LTD you are forced by your insurace carrier to apply for SSD (so they can reduce payments to you.

You will need to go down to your local social security office and take all your disability information and apply for SSD.

I haven't received my paperwork yet,so I will wait until I have paper in hand so to speak...wow this was really unexpected and so confusing. I wish i had a plow lol my car just spins its tires it wouldn't be able to push it lol..thanks:)shelly

Back when I had my spinal fusion LTD required me to apply for SSD.  All I ended up needing was a letter from SSD that they were denying or approving me and LTD would pay the balance owed.  LTD paid more than SSD so They automatically denied me.  But I got my LTD for 18 mos while healing.  also I lost my Ins and was to get COBRA but couldn't afford it.  I had Kaiser in CA and they had a program for those who fall in between the cracks so mine was paid for a year.  this was 98/99  Hope it helps
