Thank you both so much for your responses, I admit I was very scared when the dr. told me. I feel much better after reading what others have to say.

when i first got diagnosed i thought i was typhoid mary. Didn't want to touch other people or have people touch me, segregated my "stuff" from everyone else's, etc.

Now I know better (after six months of treatment). Of course I keep my nail clippers, tweezers and toothbrush away from hubby and if i cut myself, i put the stuff i used in a plastic bag and seal it

but that's it.

You are not very contagious.  I have the disease for 45 years and my wife of 42 years never caught it nor has anyone else I know caught it from me.

You should always get a doctor's advice, but I think the normal protections in the food service industry should work for you.  You are only contagious if there is blood to blood contact.

It is easy to be very upset and nervous after a diagnoses like this, but you will lead a long and healthy life.  There are many new treatments in the works that will likely produce excellent results in a relatively short time.

Good luck to you.

Yes I was just diagnosed yesterday after blood work for my diabetis showed elevated liver enzimes.
I know I am contagious and don't wish to put anyone in danger.

Why are you asking this?  Do you have HCV?
