Itching and stuff like that...   I didn't itch hardly at all on treatment.  After treatment, that's another story.  I hope, NYGirl that yours will go away when you finish up with your treatment and that you'll be done with itching!  Mine is itching only when I exercise, get too hot, (like showers), whenever I get direct sunlight, or get in a room where the heat's on too high.  Anyway, it's so annoying because on a nice day, you really want to be able to take a walk outside in the sunlight.  The dermatologist did that skin biopsy on me and it came back with a long word with the initials are T.M.E.P., anyhow, I'll find out if the second labtests that she ran, showed her whether it was a systemic cause, or a dermal cause.  For now, the treatment is to avoid the above triggers and take Allegra and Zantac.  (All of these are to just treat the symptoms, not to get rid of it.  I want it to GO AWAY!!  I want the HEP C to GO AWAY!!  I want to be a normal person again.  Thanks for listening.

I don't know why these doctors are not aware of the rashes these meds create.  They truly have their heads in the sand.  I saw a picture of mekeela's legs, and this is some serious stuff.  I don't have any solutions, but I sympathize with all of you with this problem.

yes the rash is really strange. The first time it appeared was when I first started to tx and had the bright idea of going to the pool..bad move..sunburned then the rash was all over afterwards. went to dr. and txed with 2 diff rinds of cream which helped but did not clear it up. at one point I was wearing extra large bandaids over my n"ples due to the weeping of blister like sores. did this for 2 weeks and used hyro cort cream and zinc oxide over top. It cleared up.
I then got a different rash this one is not as bad as first kind (left scars) more scale like and on my face. almost like an allergic reaction, my lip actually swelled and sores on tongue terrible. this cleared up after a few weeks. now mainly on face around eyes, cheeks and chin, raised itchy scaly...I just hope when done tx rashes go away! use hydrocort cream and zinc oxide and it helps but still there. thanks:)shelly

Scaley - that is how my face rash was. Then if I itched it (which I swear to God I was like being tortured with it I almost had to put kitchen oven mitts on my hands to keep from doing - I'd last for HOURS and then in one frantic moment just RIP at my skin) it got incredibly infected and red and raw and sore.

That is what the doctor said was eczema and gave me the Cutivate for. It cleared it up and the first night I used it it did stop the itching.

I had gone the day before to the pharmacy and bought EVERY topical on the market (no exag. I bought like ten things). Spent a TON of money and nothing helped heal it.

Cutivate. That did work. It's not meant for the face so you can only use it for a few weeks because it's really strong - but it cleared it up for me.

I know exactly what you mean about the sun - I got the wise idea that I could go tanning one day...heck I've always been FINE in the sun. Oh man - wrong wrong wrong move.

See if your doc will try the med. It might help. If it's eczema that is but scaly sounds like what I had too.

:)  I hope to God we come up with something you can try that works!  You don't need anymore garbage! Enough already!

yes, I am going to see dr. tomarrow its snowing like crazy here! almost 1 inch already in past 1/2 hour..I am going to mention cutivate. It probably is related to psorasis which I believe is stress induced also. This would make sense. I look hideous and I hate to go out in public when its all over the face. I look like I have pink eye but its not.red welt over left eyelid and one under right lol..and it does itch like MAD..

If it's really bad, go to a Derm Doc - my doctor (hep) was the first to admit he knew nothing about skin problems.

Its worth the trip.

How come you have a 7 at the end of your name? I'm not used to it! You're not one of those posers are you? LOL I know your writing and can tell it's you, but it through me for a loop for a minute! Thanks for your thoughts about me and my fire. They were sweet. What a nightmare! Did you go through one?

I have these scabby things behind my ears, they are ***** and stuff, I have been through lots of OTC stuff and haven't had energy and time to make an appt. It is scaly and stuff too. Do you think it could me the same? Also my mouth went nutz a few days ago. My tongue and the roof of my mouth felt like had cuts all over it. Does that sound familar? What did you do with your mouth?

I'm so glad you are almost done, I can't believe it has been 72 already. When we met in Feb, March, you were way back there. Time does fly when your'e having fun, huh?

Well this is it, 72 long weeks. I don't know how you did it, I don't believe I could do it. You must be excited but nervous, I would be beside myself with emotions.
You've come a long way baby!!!  I wish you SVR for life and I am anxious to hear all about the post tx.

Debbie,

I was trying to find the post where you said what day is your last shot day???  I know you said you were almost done, but I wanted to know what day you take your last shot???  What are you gonna do to celebrate your completion!  Food will taste a lot better!  For me, it was an adjustment to get used to not have to think about a shot every night, since I was on daily shots.  I'm so glad for you and I wish for you that you have a long lasting SVR.

You too are a trooper, I think about you often, what an inspiration you are. You treated more times than anyone I know and you still have a great attitude. I hope your doing well.

To those suffering from horrible rashes (I've had real bad patches on both elbows for the past month and from the vivid descriptions posted above, it sounds like something similar.)

Just a thought; Has anyone tried antihistimines, like benadryl, or sudafed?

I'm on daily allergy meds for other problems and I wonder if that helps somewhat with the itching.

I once had terrible poison ivy, from squatting in the forest in a place which my sister had assured me was posion-ivy-less - and the only thing that helped me survive was the benadryl.

Nygirl - I'm so happy for you that you're down to the last shot.  You must let us know how you are post tx.

You are an inspiration to a lot of people.   If I think about it you treated about a year longer than me.  I just know you will be svr.  I can't wait for you to tell us so.  You have given it all you have which is at least 200%.   You go girl!!

Yes, nygirl - really AWSOME that you are almost done!!!  Way to go!!

stangshelly - yeah I have the rash all over - some days I just feel like an aniomal with the constant shifting around and scratching to relive the itch. All the remedies and hints "help" , but it's still there and it still itches.

I always associated mine with the riba, maybe your rash is different from mine since your rash gets better or worse around your shots.

I sure hope you get some good advice about this....

Hey girl,

That sounds more like the ribarash I had - little tiny itchy bumps (but...when I itched them they got infected and then got big).  It's STILL happening to me now - but I think it's more morphed into the eczema that I got from this Interferon.

I think that all the junk we are on to kill the virus also must kill OTHER things on our bodies that aren't necessarily bad. You know the stuff that lives on us like bacteria (which I try hard not to think about even if it is GOOD) or whatever.

That is my personal opinion. Because if I get a regular bump and itch it it doesn't get like these do at all.

My face was BEYOND bad. When you go to a Derm and he looks at you and goes "wow" you KNOW you are hellishly horrible! Thank God the medicine he prescribed did clear it up. Although now I have scars that need to fade.

This disease sucks - all of it. I wish there was an answer but the only thing that has helped me have any control over the rash was the Gold Bond and then the med he prescribed (Cutivate - which shouldn't be used on your face because it's so strong but I had to).

You will be shocked how quickly you too get to 72. I still can't believe it and how much time flew by so fast.

I just pray now.............it's all that is left to do! :)
