Good News. Her Pediatrician reminded me that since she got bitten through the clothing that the saliva didn't reach the wound most likely and puts her at a lower risk for infection, etc. So we'll have her seen for a look/see. It put a damper on her party .. such a shame, but in the future she'll never forget her 11th birthday huh?

I think your swift action and contact with the Pediatrician was commendable. I am glad the situation turned out well. In case this horse has a habit of biting people, I would move him to a stall where he cannot hang his head out.
Thanks so much for your reply. To update the post, she got a tetnus booster today and the Ped said the swelling is her pectoral muscle along with the big bruise which is 5CM X 5CM and she is a very petite young lady so it affects her with alot of pain. She said to use Motrin or Tylenol and ice a few more days, etc. The ped told me she was glad I called the Pedi on call over the weekend, etc. as they have never seen a horse bite in all the years she's been doing peds (we don't live in an area where everybody owns a horse ..it's more suburban vs rural), etc.and she is free of infection, etc. She isn't allowed to take gym or ride a horse for another 2-3 weeks until it is healed completely due to the injury to the muscle.
