LGSIL result without sex...

by Curioustoknow44, Nov 02, 2009 11:35PM
Hey everyone..  I received information that I had an abnormal pap result and that it showed lgsil....  Unfortunately, my doctor is relocating so I have to bring my results and records to a new doctor and let them decide what to do.  I was told I will probably be sent in for a colposcopy (which I've been told by many friends, is very painful).  What isn't making sense is that I have only exposed myself to the possibility of exposure ONE time.  I am a female and was sexually active with another female who was a virgin in all realms at the time.  After this experience, I decided to wait for a serious relationship that I have yet to get myself into.  I have received oral sex but the other person was fully clothed... therefore, I'm feeling like oral sex might be the only way I've gotten these abnormal results.  I know HPV can lie dormant for many years (and it obviously have since the last time I received oral sex was a year and a half ago).  I have had no skin to skin contact since the one time, no touching them and then myself or them touching themselves and then me... etc.  From what I had known in the past, one was not able to get HPV from receiving oral sex.  I'm supposing this has changed?

My last question is this; do you believe that I should get the Colposcopy or ask this new doctor to give me another pap test before proceeding?  I don't want to jump into the colposcopy because I have Fibromyalgia which causes me to pretty much be out of commission for up to several months at a time when my body is under stress related to physical pain (as well as emotional stress, of course).

Opinions greatly appreciated!

Something else I had taken into consideration is that it seems to me labs can often give false positives.  I've had blood tests and beyond regularly for many years, and half the time I end up with false positives. I'm not sure if this is something that can happen with pap smears as well?
