picked off possible small genital wart

picked off possible small genital wart

HI
I am a 37 yr old male who noticed a very tiny whitish bump/line on the undersided of the shaft( very wrinkly) area maybe in March 09. (I have not had sex since last November '08 with a girl I was dating at the time). It never grew but seemed to shrink/go away totally about 2 wks ago. That nite I saw a small white bump about the size of lower case 'o' in the same spot. I thought it was dry skin and picked it off. ( probably not smart). It came off and bled a little bit and must have taken some skin with it. Anyway, I saw loads of wart pictures online and this really didnt look like any of them ( they seemed quite obvious and in clusters but I know that they can ll be different).Since the skin is so thin there it seems to be healing (slowly) but it seems to be forming scar tissue. My question is will a doctor be able to tell me1. if it is/was a wart ( and if it was completely removed?- albeit in stupid fashion).2. At this point it looks lke scar tissue and rougher skin around edges. I really appreciate any help. I plan on going to the clinic at my school so they can look at it. Mostly i want to put my mind at ease.

Some doctors will biopsy and skin to test for the HPV virus, but because warts are almost never serious, few think it is cost-effective. Instead, most diagnose warts through visual inspection. If there is nothing for the doctor to see, he probably won't be able to give you a diagnosis. If the "scar tissue" is actually warty tissue, you may be able to get a diagnosis/treatment.

If you can't get a clear diagnosis, I wouldn't worry about it. If the bump comes back, have it treated, but I would assume you are wart free unless diagnosed.
