Yeah I think that is exactly it, staying away from high processed food, which is so frustrating because it literally seems to be everything these days and sodium, sodium, sodium. I did read that rinsing canned veggies and food can help but it is best to buy frozen vegetables if fresh is not an option. Thanks so much for your posts, they certainly do help!
Crazykid is right, you should be more concerned about the sodium content of what you eat, this includes all processed foods, not just the canned variety.
Congrats on being proactive about your BP!

As far as High Blood Pressure is concerned, you don't have to avoid ALL canned foods, just watch the sodium content. For example there is a ton of no salt added vegetables, and reduced sodium canned products. So I wouldn't say avoid canned foods, just watch it, and use moderation. Personally, I don't eat many canned foods because I try to stay under 1200 mg of sodium per day, and not many canned selections support that.
As far as your husbands other symptoms.. that has nothing to do with high blood pressure. But if it makes him feel bad to eat canned foods, then it's probably a good idea to stay away from it altogether.
