Question about Beta blockers

My main question is how low can your heart rate get and still be safe? I'm afraid to take a beta block for my hypertension because my hr at night gets as low as 55 without them. I'm 24 years old I have hypertension, I'm active/normal weight I also have LVH from my hypertension. Would it be safe for me to take this beta blocker bystolic My doctor has prescribed me? He said it wouldn't lower it much but from the posts I've seen they do. Thoughts?

Can you ask your doc for another bl pr pill instead of beta blocker? I can't take bbs. It makes my heart go too low and then out of rhythm real bad. At the er two yrs ago when i got worse after taking bb's the doc there said to stop taking them. He saved my life. Slowly my heart went back into rhythm. I take half a tab of lisinopril plus garlic, hawthorn, hibiscus tea, Q10 and sometimes more. I am doing ok. One time when my doc prescribe the bb i told him i couldn't take it. He upped the lisinopril. I don't take the whole pill, but i do check my bl pr like 6-8x a day at least. If it goes over 140/90 i take another half pill. But i always check the bl pr. My normal resting heart rate is 60 so i can't take the bb.
