Hysterectomy

I am 46yrs. I had sub-total hysterectomy done in November 2007. I am single and not sexual active. In April, i bled for 3days and my GP referred me for a 2week cancer investigation. During the investigation i saw a gynaecologist and subsequently had, Ultra sound and coloscopy done. There was no conclusive reason why i should bled. I am now with a new partner and everytime we have intercourse i bleed. I want to know if this is normal. The hysterectomy was done because i had fibroids and heavy periods.

Hello ifeolu,

Your compalint is "postcoital bleeding". May be due to vaginal atropy or a short narrow vagina. I recommend that you have your gynecologist do a vaginal exam.

Thank you for your reply and advise. I will request my GP to refer me to a gynecologist and let you know the development.
