My mother has been taking first round of 6 weekly BCG instillation post her TUR 2 months ago. She had very high fever up to 103.5 degrees after 2nd & 3rd dose and then there was a break of 20 days before her 4th one due to bacterial infection. Post her 4th instillation she has been in lot of pain in the bladder and has been urinating evert 10 minutes. The Urologist has prescribed Augmentin & Pyridium which she has been taking for last 2 days but with no good effect. The 4th instillation was given almost 10 days ago and she has not been having proper sleep even for more than couple of hours and she is in lot of physical and mental trauma. I understand that these are symptoms of BCG cystitis and can you please tell me if these symptoms are usual. What is the suggested treatment to get immediate relief as I mentioned she is in lot of pain. I read one article on the web which mentioned about anaesthitic anti-inflammatory solution administered by intravesical instillation which gives good results. Please advice urgently. Thanks for all the help.
