Exercise after heart attack ,2 stents and a EF of 25

My Cardiologist says that I need to wait for Physical therapy because I had so much heart damage. It has been a month since he has said that and now he wants me to wait another month. I am 58 years old diagnosed with heart failure . I have had no new tests since the stents have been put in. My question is , What is the reasoning behind not doing any exercise from a cardiologist stand point? I was under the assumption exercise was essential for recovery.

Frequently cardiac rehab is suggested after a heart attack so that the patient can be monitored as the exercise progresses.  When to start the rehab can vary based on the patient's condition.  I would talk again to the doctor and see if you are able for a low work load.

Thank you for your quick reply. I did talk to him on my follow up visit and he said I should wait till after the New Year so my heart could heal more. I do seem to be getting stronger as the days go bye.
