Fast Heart Beat & Chest Pain

by selena0019, Oct 06, 2007 02:35PM
hi, i am a 27 years old female and a year ago i have gone thru the gastroplasty surgery & lost 40 kg.

throughout the year i havent faced any problems. But 3 months back, i was under lots of stress & i have stopped eating properly as i am supposed to, plus i took some chinese herbal pills which are supposed to help me lose the 8 extra kg which i still want to lose. After taking it, i have stopped eating & even drinking water. I Have lost around 4 kg, and wasnt sleeping well. Suddenly 20 days ago, my heart started beating very fast that i felt i cant breath. I went to the cardiologue, who did the ecg test for me & to be more sure, he has done it for 24 hours to check how often does this happens to me. After 24 hours, the test showed that in the 24 hours, my heart rate is higher then usual, between 117 to 143, except in my sleep its normal. The doctor told me not to worry & it happens specially of my malnutrition & he asked me to stop the herbal pills, eat well and gave me pills which adjust the heart rate. I am supposed to take them for a month then go back for a test.
Now after i started taking the pills, and eating properly, the heart very rarely beats fast ,But i do feel most of the times specially when i am about to sleep that i am out of breath. It is not i cant breath, i do breath but i feel i am out of breath, and i feel this burning pain in my chest above my left breast, which goes sometimes under my arm to the side. I dont know if its related, but the feeling of being out of breath and that i need to take a really deep breath to feel alive is making me worried even more. I also noticed that i am craving for sugar a lot and whenever i have some my heart beats fast.

I am worried, i never faced anything like that not even when i was overweight. Please help me and tell me if i need to do something else.

Appreciate your help

With herbal supplements it is hard to evaluate for related side effects as the ingredients are not well idetified or studied. Hopefully if this was due to the supplement this will settle with time.Meanwhile you should  contine follow up with your doctors.
