Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

Has anyone had stones removed using percutaneous nephrolithotomy? I've had a consult with a surgeon today and am looking at having a 10mm stone removed from my left kidney he just wants to review my imaging scans ultrasound etc., to check he can get to it........I'm in so much pain, if it can't be done don't know if I can cope much longer. - Jan

I had this done about 5 years ago to get a similar size stone. check the link above for more info but i can tell you it is not as bad as it sounds. a couple days in the hospital but when they put the needle/tube in your back you will not feel it and when they pull it there is no pain at all. Now i also had a large one recently that we litho'd and even though i have cysteine stones and was told it wouldn't work on it we went ahead and did two shots at it and got it cause even cysteine stones have some calcium in them. also sheck out the med cystone...its a wonder drug and god bless
