I'm so tired of the pain!

Does anyone have any experience with coping with renal colic caused by stones and/or calcium deposits as I have both, and the pain is excrutiating at worst and extremely uncomfortable at best! I am considering alternative pain control ie. accupuncture, meditative techniques, anything other than pills, as I found that I can't function on them plus I live alone so it is so easy to overdose when on the really strong stuff.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks....J

A few other really good 'natural remedies' I find helpful, particularly with back and tension pain (due to fatigue from pain)

* Hot water bottle/heat packs or any heat applied to the lower back.
* TENS machines (applied to back but be careful not to apply pads directly over or at the kidney as this can be painful or agrivate the pain)
* Flood the kidneys & system with as much fluids as you can possibly drink and stay away from coffee, caffeine and other substances that would naturally irritate and exacerbate the pain!

HI there, I really feel for you. Renal colic is the most horrendous pain imaginable. I had renal colic for 10 months and I was climbing the walls at times.
I have tried acupuncture for neck pain and it really works. The pain recedes for a while so i would definately give it a go.
Also, have you thought about clinical hypnotherapy?  Pain makes anxiety levels increase, which increases the pain  and then it starts a cycle. Hypnotherapy is like a deep sense of relaxation. I have been having it for chronic pain and my pain levels have decreased considerably. I also listen to relaxation CDs and that helps me to sleep better.
Hope this helps.
